About Us: Visitor Info

The Center is located at 20 West Forty-Fourth Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in midtown Manhattan. It is in the landmark General Society building, across the street from the Harvard Club and down the block from the New York Bar Association and the Algonquin Hotel. The Center is open from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday year-round, and is closed on major holidays. Visitors are encouraged to visit our reading room, see our facilities, and make use of our reference center. Members can schedule the use of certain of these facilities outside of regular hours.

The neighborhood is served by most subway lines. The 1, 2, 3, 9, N, R and 7 trains stop at Times Square, Forty-Second Street and Seventh Avenue. The B, D, F, and V trains stop at Bryant Park, Forty-Second Street and Sixth Avenue. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and Metro North Trains stop at Grand Central Station, Forty-Second Street and Madison Avenue. The area is also served by bus lines and taxi to points within the city and to all airports.
