Audible Inc., an Amazon.com, Inc. subsidiary, has announced AUDIBLE IndieFirst, a new imprint developed by Audible and the NYCIP to surface fresh, original works from independent publishers and deliver them in digital audio before the print edition is available.

The next Independent and Small Press Book Fair will be held in midtown Manhattan on a prime weekend, December 6 and 7, to help increase revenue and exposure for independent publishers and small presses. Last year's Fair drew over 3,000 visitors. The Book Fair is a lively and cost-effective way to sell your books and promote your press.

Amazon's Book Surge Gambit Changes the Digital Landscape

Recently, the industry was shaken by an announcement by Amazon that the company was changing its order fulfillment policy. In a nutshell, Amazon threatened to disable a book's "Buy Now" button if that book's publishing company did not subscribe to Book Surge Print, an Amazon owned print-on-demand (POD) printing service. Many called it a blatant attempt at a monopoly, because Book Surge is the only POD option available if one wishes to sell books through Amazon using its coveted "Buy Now" button.
