Thursday, October 28th, 2004 6pm In a series of four interviews, the distinguished journalist, Christopher Lehmann-Haupt of The New York Times will talk with four of America's most highly regarded authors. Starting the series will be E. L. Doctorow. The novelist, E. L. Doctorow has a talent for recreating the past in a way that makes history vividly alive. Books such as Ragtime, The Book of Daniel and Billy Bathgate all share a compelling narrative and prose which capture 19th and 20th century American problems. Doctorow has received many awards including the National Book Award, two National Book Critics Circle Awards and the Pen/Faulkner award and is considered one of the country's most remarkable writers.
